With the help of over 60 volunteers, Future for KIDS assembled and hosted its 5th annual basketball camp, where we served over 100 children valley-wide at Arizona State University’s Downtown Fitness Complex.
The structure of the camp was built around Wooden’s Pyramid of Success, which exemplifies ethics, hard work and discipline. The children participated in 7 unique rotations, all run by volunteers and athletes.
Some of our special guests included current and former ASU women’s basketball players. Also, local team mascots such as Sparky and the Phoenix Suns Gorilla, along with Jeff Cook, former Suns player, were present as well.
Each child received a healthy breakfast and lunch, a camp t-shirt, and a basketball, compliments of the Suns, to take home and refine the skills they learned. Our goal of serving the youth, educating them, and making sure they have fun while doing so, was accomplished and we are excited to keep this tradition going!
