Future for KIDS held the annual Winter Games Camp at
Cesar Chavez Leadership Academy in Phoenix, Arizona on Saturday, February 11th.
The field day challenge welcomed over 200 youth from the community.
Each participant received a t-shirt and healthy breakfast upon arrival.
Spirit, the Fiesta Bowl Mascot, greeted youth as they walked onto
the field for the opening presentation featuring the BeKIND People Project.
“Spirit is so funny! He kept dancing and giving high-fives.” Said 9-year-old camper Tyra.
The Arizona Diamondbacks very own, Zach Hall, spoke to the kids
about staying on track for a bright future!
The youth were then separated into different teams by the color on their wristband,
and set off to the different activities. The stations ranged from hockey
with the Arizona Coyotes, to basketball, to tug-of-war, and even dodge-ball.
Howler, the Arizona Coyotes mascot, came out to play with the kids at each station. “I
can’t believe Howler is playing dodge-ball with us!” said 10-year-old camper Tyler.
The youth were taught about teamwork and learned new skills
at each station while a DJ played fun, upbeat tunes to keep the momentum going.
After a long morning of fun, the campers regrouped for lunch.
“The was the most funnest thing ever!” shouted 9-year-old camper Jordan.
The Chick-Fil-A Cow mascot came out to mingle with the campers
while Chick-Fil-A set up for lunch. Campers and their families had
the opportunity to pose with the Cow and take funny pictures.
Each camper and their families then received a free Chick-Fil-A lunch
and enjoyed a nice picnic on the field.
The Winter Games: Field Day Challenge was a great morning of fun for the community.
